Schools and Universities
A new major school development located at Wahroonga NSW (Prep – Year 12). The project comprised the staged construction of several buildings on one site. The school will cater for up to 800 students. SGA delivered the fire safety engineering solutions for a variety of building code departures for the new school development. The validation of the fire engineered solutions required advanced Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) modelling as well as other complex assessments.
NIDA (National Institute of Dramatic Arts) NSW
Capital Works programs from 2011-2014. Fire Safety Engineering for the Construction of 9 tutorial and rehearsal rooms within the NIDA Foyer & provision of a new Amphitheatre. Project requiring assessment of smoke hazard management and egress provisions having regard of the existing theatres (1000 occupants within the Foyer area).
Sydney Grammar School Assembly Hall NSW
SGA provided Fire Safety Engineering on a $23m project requiring assessment of smoke hazard management and egress provisions within a new 1500 seat hall to be used for musical performances.
University of NSW L5 Building
A $25m international award winning building over 7 levels and 2000m² floor area designed BVN architects.
Macquarie University Library NSW
A $90m project involving construction of new multi-storey library designed by FJMT architects. Complex atrium involving interconnected voids requiring performance-based fire and smoke hazard management and occupant egress modelling.
Ascham School NSW
The $17M project includes a new 3 storey science building with 9 laboratories and underground car parking for 38 cars. The project also provides boarding facilities for 64 students who will be accommodated in two existing buildings, including Duntrim House, a Federation style building with local heritage listing. The school intends for the project to incorporate environmentally sustainable design principles and showcase these as an educational tool. The challenges of the project will include the proximity of the works and significant excavation to existing buildings and the operations of the school
